Trash-free Tudikhel # Week 5

Clean up Nepal has completed its first month at Tudikhel. With four weekly cleanups undertaken, we now have a better understanding of the type and volume of waste generated at Tudikhel.

We will continue to undertake weekly cleanups till the end of May by which time we plan to complete Stage 1 of activities towards transforming Tudikhel into a lively and vibrant urban space:

STAGE 1: UNDERSTAND WASTE MANAGEMENT ISSUES AND PROMOTE A NO-LITTERING CULTURE
1) Conduct an action-oriented, systematic, effective and efficient weekly cleanup at Tudikhel; Document the type and volume of waste collected;
2) Reduce the impact of our cleanup by using re-usable gloves, re-usable drinking water bottles, etc;
3) Reduce waste going to landfill sites by segregating waste, managing organic waste at the park and recycling materials such as plastics, paper and metal;
4) Actively engage with park/ground users about a no-littering culture to encourage behavioural change;
5) Commence a petition to draw attention of the Nepalese government to transform Tudikhel into a lively and vibrant park;
6) Set up a website for the #TransformTudikhel Campaign;
7) Publish articles in the daily newspapers and other relevant magazines; and
8) Create a pool of like-minded individuals and organisations interested in supporting the transformation of Tudikhel.

Join us every Saturday from 8am to 10am to cleanup Tudikhel and to plan for its future.
