ABOUT THE ARTIST
Shankar Man Shrestha was born and raised in Gaur, Rautahat. He has been a professor of History at Thakur Ram Campus for the last two decades. In his leisure time, he sits down with pen and paper and doodles. Shrestha started making illustrations from the age of 11. His first illustration was one of late king Birendra.

He was always fond of drawing images from his school books. While a student, instead of going home during vacations, Shrestha went to his guru Ram Ekbal Shah in Jaleshwor to learn how to draw. He did this for four years. After completing his Bachelor's degree in Janakpur, Shrestha went to Kathmandu to get a Masters degree.

While at Tribhuwan University, Shrestha worked as the publicity in-charge for the Nepal Student's Association. He would draw cartoons and write on banners. "We use to have cartoon wars," Shrestha recalls.

As his teaching career took off, Shrestha struggled to continue drawing. But his love for the art form always remained. In 2050 BS, he setup Sneha Art Gallery in Birgunj, but had to close it down within just a year, due to various circumstances. Despite everything, Shrestha has not stopped drawing. He should be an inspiration to many young artists.
