Sattya’s Guide to Guerrilla Filmmaking

--UPDATE-- We are accepting applications!! More details here: http://www.sattya.org/guerrilla-filmmaking-a-guide-by-sattya/

Sattya’s Guide to Guerrilla Filmmaking is a weekend long class will improve the way amateurs and independent filmmakers approach their subjects. We will try to cover everything from shooting with your smartphone to taking advantage of your surroundings. Beginners or anyone who is about to pick up that camera will find this class inspirational and constructive.

This is a boot camp built for storytellers and rebels, by Uzair Sawal, in collaboration with Sattya Media & Arts Collective. We’ve created the program to answer not only yours, but our burning questions about producing with a shoe string budget, shooting without permits and working with a skeleton crew. And we guarantee you’ll walk away better informed, too.

We promise no long hours of talking and useless industry terms - just advice and tips we can all put to work, plus new friends.

The class will be conducted throughout the weekend (10am to 4pm on both days) and we will decide when is the best to have the screening and discussion for your final products. The third session will probably last for just half a day.

About the facilitator

Uzair Sawal is a traveling creative content creator and currently based in Kathmandu. Originally from Kuala Lumpur, Malaysia, he has over 5 years of industry experience, from producing television shows to directing commercials and music videos, writing for print and screen, and working on other projects such as art installation, event management and experimental short films.

Most of the productions that he enjoyed working on are usually independent and passion projects, which had budget and time constraint. Combining insights from his professional career and DIY approach, he managed to get the job done while maintaining the quality of his work.
