Places Turns One

Places Restaurant & Bar has always been on the frontline of trying new things in Kathmandu and providing a platform for experimental art and fringe music.

A year later, the team behind it is still pushing boundaries, keeping the place alive so the creative minds and art lovers have a place they can call a second home, an oasis away from the hustle and bustle of city life.

To commemorate this journey, we will be throwing a party for our supporters and friends. Join us and celebrate the first anniversary of Places Restaurant & Bar with an exclusive one-day-only menu, specially curated lineup of music and amazing live art performance.

[Food & Beverages]
New dishes and special prices for beers.

[Art]
Keeping the Places tradition alive, friends and supporters will get to witness a live art performance by the same added colours to our walls.

[Music]
1820hrs - Ninad (Live)
We will kickstart the evening with an ensemble of saxophone, guitar, bass and tabla improvisations. The band usually improvise in between their tunes so you can bet you'll never hear the exact same set twice.

1900hrs - SAY Project (Live)
As the sun sets, the music carries on. SAY Project comprises of Yuvash and Shreeti will entertain you with their brand of mellow indie music. The duo will be joined by Subash on guitar.

1940hrs - Renry Hollins (DJ set)
He will be your groove doctor for the night and you'll get a prescription of soulful and melodic tunes that ranges from House to UK Garage, R&B to Jersey Club, specially crafted for the summer night. Don't forget your dancing shoes.

2040hrs - Doxy (Live)
As we enter the second half of our music programme, Doxy will be taking over the sound system with their brand of jazz and a slight hint of post rock.

2120hrs - Nikesh Shakya's Trio (Live)
Although a relatively fresh band, these young musicians are actually steeped in tradition and will continue providing the tunes for the night with their improvisations in the veins of Snarky Puppy and Chris Dave.

2200hrs - Sickjam (DJ set)
Influenced by Ta-Ku, Flume and the likes, bedroom producer/DJ Sickjam or Tshering Sherpa might just be the answer to Kathmandu's IDM/glitch electronic scene.
