Workshop Details:

Short description:
It's a 2 days font design / type design workshop, where you will learn various easy ways to make you OWN Devanagari or English font. You will learn to convert your handwriting into a font, converting type design sketches into a font, glyph construction, vectorizing and generating a font. Everyone has their own unique style of writing. Let's create more varieties of Nepali fonts.

Course Detail:

Day 1

- Why font matters?
- Sketching letters
- Digitize the letters, Transferring sketch into Adobe Illustrator, tracing, vectorizing
- working in FontLab studio and transferring letters glyphs from Illustrator to FontLab
- Participants will try creating their own font and work more on home, the next day they will bring their ongoing work and discuss the difficulties and questions arise.

Day 2

- Explore more techniques to draw letters in Illustrator and Fonblab
- Discuss the problems they faced while trying to create a font.
- Kerning fonts.
- Generate font.
- Discussion / idea sharing
- Can we sell font?

Highlights and Outcome:

Participants leave the program with skills to design their own font.

Materials Required from Participants:

Laptop (if you don't have one, no worries we will share)

Love for letters.

Software: 

Illustrator / Photoshop 

Fontlab Studio (Will be provided)

Participants should have basic knowledge of Adobe Illustrator & Photoshop, using PEN tools.
