champaDevi Hiking:
This is not juts walk but an adventure and cultural experience!
Champa Devi located to the south of Kathmandu city, is one of the best hill for hiking in Kathmandu valley rim. Leaving the village and monastery of Pharping, the trail makes way through the pine forest. Most of the walk is along the ridge that offers spectacular mountains views with a bird’s eye view of the Kathmandu Valley. The raptors can be seen soaring below the trails. The top of the hill is enshrined with a sacred site, where locals perform their rituals on auspicious days.
Leaving the summit the trail descends steeply down to the village of Champa Devi, though dense forest that is rich in bird’s and wildlife. From Champadevi, you will return drive to Kathmandu via the historic town of Kirtipur and university area.

Duration: 6-7 hrs.
Itinery:
7AM: Start tour with drive
8AM- 11AM-12 Noon: Sumiit of Champa Devi, enjoy the views and enjoy the pack lunch here with eh view
1-3PM: Descend down to Machhegaon
4PM: Back to Kathmandu
Please note that the duration mentioned is just a rough guide and can vary according to the individual and other reason. Some people even take shorter time and some has been found taking longer time to finish this beautiful hike.
Trip Basics:
Go hike Champa Devi hill! You can do it!
Hiking level: Easy to moderate
Highest point: 2250m (summit)
Bring along: Drinking water, camera, sunhat with sun cream, a pair of binocular etc.
What to expect!
The walking in Nepali hills can be strenuous at some point but its always enjoyable and fun. The beautiful scenery and nature is always wonderful, making it a great walking experience in Nepal.
When to go hike up there!
These walks can be done through out the year as all the season has its own charm. Summer and monsoon is the time of lush and green surrounding, spring is very beautiful with many flowers in bloom including the rhododendrons and the birds that are so active as this is their breeding season. Autumn and winters are, wonderful with clear sky & great views.
Birds and nature
Part of this hike, especially towards the end is also a destination for birds where we can view and hear many birds around. The hilly area in the day time is always good for raptors that are see soaring. The area before and after are abundant with these avian delights.
