Nepalese painter. Born and raised in a small town, Dharan in eastern Nepal, Subash Thebe graduated from Middlesex University London in 2011 in BA Fine Art.
He spent most his of his after-school years in Kathmandu, switching faculties from Science to Philosophy and eventually to Fine Art and attended Lalit Kala Campus for couple of years before moving to London.
After seeing the works of Gerhard Richter, Anselm Kiefer and most notably Jason Martin, in flesh, he began to explore abstraction and created paintings, inspired by classical music, which were eventually named after the title of the score.
Subash’s recent works are engaged in quite different themes and discourses with compare to his earlier works; he responds to the contemporary socio-political issues seen through the lens of mainstream media. He will be showing his works in June 2014 in Siddhartha Art Gallery, Kathmandu.
