Helping Hands # Nepal Earth Quake

Events Detail

Art of Survival: Colours of Natural Disaster

As tragic events and terrible forces become part of scrolls, paintings, and photographs the events are memorialized and gathered to be brought to a manageable state. And, when the forces of nature tear the world apart into pieces, the pieces can be collected and sold to bring a photographer a step closer to economic recovery.

We at 'I am Helping Hands' invite you to join us and explore the various expressions of Nepal pre and post earthquake emblazoned into photographs clicked by various emerging photographers both local and foreign. It will showcase images that tell stories that both restore and represent this Himalayan kingdom.

We hope this exhibition will provide a window to the imaginations of the photographers' who used what they knew best to respond to a natural disaster of such magnitude with vision, perseverance and dignity - amidst the infrastructural log jams and environmental after-effects. And, that through this experience they have learnt that the most fundamental power is the indomitable spirit of mankind.

The images exhibited juxtapose the pristine beauty of Nepal with the images of its people caught in the savagery wrought by nature after the quake, to highlight the destruction caused and the efforts needed to restore the Nation to its earlier beauty.

We look forward to having you there to see for yourself through the photographs; the small ray of hope between the sky of sadness.
