Uncovering Opportunities: Mondays with Young Entrepreneurs III

After overwhelming success of our first two editions of Uncovering Opportunities: Mondays with Young Entrepreneurs, ISAP brings you the third edition of the event.

This event is targeted to aspiring and budding entrepreneurs. You will hear success stories from youths like you who had the courage and tenacity to step out on their own navigating the rough waters of the unknown to establish successful companies in Nepal. Learn about the entrepreneurial challenges, surprises, disappointments, victories and triumph. What they have experienced may inspire you or help you avoid a pitfall or two, and accelerate your own company's progress.

Q & A session follows a short video story of entrepreneurs. In this third event in a series of four, the event would showcase Manohar Adhikari of foodmandu.com, Durga Khad Thakuri, a cow farmer in Palpa and Avash Ghimire of Maidan.

Foodmandu.com – Manohar Adhikari

Everyone is scared of the new dog down the road, will it bite or just wag its tail. When Mr. Manohar Adhikari started the e-commerce venture of restaurant food delivery, it was indeed a giant leap into the unknown. From figuring out how to keep food warm during delivery to identifying the correct houses in our city with no street addresses, it was no easy task. When they started, they only had 4 employees but now they have around 24, they used to have an average of 3-4 orders a day but now it reaches over 100. Foodmandu.com is a pioneer in the Nepalese e-commerce industry.

Maidaan Futsall – Avash Ghimire

The idea for MaidanFootsall sprouted in AvashGhimire’s mind while he was drinking tea with his college friends. While still in his final year of his undergraduate studies at ACE Institute of Management, Avash convinced his parents and friends to invest about Rs 4.5 million to start MaidanFootsallArena which was yet to be a proven concept. The venture is paying off handsomely now and he describes he takes home about 2 to 3 times what he would have earned had he joined any leading company for work.

Palpa Cow Farming – Durga Khad Thakuri

Durga Khad Thakuri is a cow farmer based in Palpa district. With almost 25 cows at his farm, he sells about 150 litres of milk per day. Initially, he started out with NRs. 8 lakhs (approximately USD 8000) and now his firm is valued at 15 lakhs (approximately 15000 USD).Thakuri, who was selected by his VDC to attend a veterinary training in the past, also advices fellow cow farmers from his village on animal health issues and now has become a celebrity figure in his district. He was also awarded by ASTCS as the number one cow farmer in the whole of western region.
