Cycling For A Cause
Cycling For A Cause is a fund-raiser cycling event to help the victims of natural disaster with Ujyalo's night lighting system. All the proceeds from the event will go towards the lighting project to install night lighting systems as a part of emergency response and recovery resettlement programs in the disaster struck areas.
The main objective of this event is to provide lighting systems to these victims who otherwise will have to live with no light. Light, which often does not come up as a pressing issue to resolve when it comes to rehabilitation of these victims is equally important as other relief items provided. Light, especially in these campsite/cluttered living space can lower the risk of fatal injury, provide safety to these individuals especially young children and women whose safety can be compromised in these areas, and help them conduct routine household tasks without any challenges. AND to help them achieve the same standard of living you and I have despite the circumstances.
MAIN GOAL: To give light to those who deserve it as much as we do!
FUNDRAISING OBJECTIVE: To raise NRs.1 million.
PERSONAL OBJECTIVE: To help people in need by giving them what THEY need.
How do we achieve our goals?
By being a part of this event: registering, riding, pledging, and sponsoring! Share this with your friends and family. Talk about it on social media. TOGETHER WE CAN DO THIS!
All the riders have to register with us and pay a registration fee of NRs. 200. We suggest all our participants to pledge a money to make at least a bottle so that we can support as many victims as we can. You can pledge at http://goo.gl/yGyu7S The more pledges we get the more lighting system we can create!

Frequently Asked Questions (FAQs)
1. What are Ujyalo bottle-bulbs?
Ujyalo bottle-bulbs are energy efficient and environment friendly lighting tools that is created by using wasted plastic bottles.
2. Why natural disaster victims?
All the community partners, government officials, and NGOs/INGOs are often proactive in emergency response and rehabilitation providing natural disaster victims with food, shelter, clothes, and hygiene and sanitation. But lighting, which is equally important is not yet a priority relief item. In the camps where victims live in cluttered housing the safety of these individuals, especially young children and women are endangered, the chances of fatal injuries hike up, and conducting routine household chores become challenging. Hence, lighting system is equally important a any other relief response provided to these communities.
3. Why Cycling?
Cycling and our bottle-bulbs both endorse an eco-friendly and energy efficient approach. Cycling is considered as on of the effective modes of transportation to become both energy efficient and environmental friendly. Similarly, our bottle-bulbs that are created from wasted plastic bottles, which do not emit pollutants into the environment and use natural resources, also demonstrate an eco-friendly and energy efficient approach. Hence, cycling to support the victims with our environment friendly bottle-bulbs go hand in hand. With this cycling event we also hope to create awareness about recycling, environment- friendly community-focused innovative tools alongside supporting the victims of natural disasters and promoting inclusion of lighting tools as a part of emergency response/ resettlement plan.
