2nd Heritage Ride 2016
Heritage Ride: Sampada Cycle" to Mark the "International Day for Monuments and Sites". Connecting 7 world heritage sites of Kathmandu Valley on bicycle. Prepare yourself to explore centuries old monuments Kathmandu along World Cyclist/ Everest Sum-miter Mr. Pushkar Shah and Nepal's top ranked Mountain Bikers. This ride is jointly organized by Tour De' Lumbini and Kathmandu Cycle City 2020, Cycle City Network Nepal. This 60 KM MODERATELY TOUGH ride will flag off from Basantapur Durbar Square and will head to nearby Soyambhunath aka Monkey Temple on its west. After a Kora around Soyambhunath ride will move towards east to one of the holiest Hindu Shrine, Pashupatinath. From Hindu's holiest, we will ride northeast further to ancient Buddhist Stupa, Boudhanath, holiest Buddhist site outside Tibet. After a couple of Kora around Boudhanath Stupa, we move towards west to Changunaryan, Bhaktapur. The ride passes via the open paddy field of Manohara river before a couple of KM of serious uphill to the hill top of Changu also know as Dolagiri where the Lichhavi Era Monument, Changunarayan stands a tall. A true Traditional Nepali Style Hindu Shrine (as some Nepali Professor said) dedicated to god Visnu is one of the oldest temple of Nepal.
From the top of Dolagiri, the ride will be gravity assisted downhill towards South to the plain and open paddy fields of Bhaktapur before finally climbing to Bhaktapur Durbar Square. The Royal Palace of old Bhaktapur Kingdom is a collection of finest Newari Architect also featured in 1993 Italian-French-British Film, Little Buddha. After Bhaktapur, we will pedal to the east towards another old Kingdom, Patan, along the old highway connecting Bhaktapur with the capital city, Sanothimi-PepsiCola highway. After crossing the Manohara bridge we enter to the former Kingdom of Mallas. The Royal Palace of former ruler, the Malla Kings, is surrounded by finest piece of Newa Architect.
After Kingdom of Patan, its again time to enter to the Kingdom of Kathmandu to Basantapur Durbar Square to conclude our ride with some soothing music from our own Nepali bands.
